Product Description:

Cobalt SDF 38% + KI is a silver and fluoride-containing solution used as a desensitizing agent for carious dentin. This product can also be utilized as a treatment for rapidly progressive caries.

Silver diamine fluoride may cause discoloration in arrested carious lesions.

Components:

4 g bottle of SDF
6 g bottle of KI solution

Indications:

Arresting Rapid Caries Progression
Alleviating Cervical Dentin Sensitivity

Instructions for Use:

First, thoroughly clean the surfaces of the teeth to be treated using prophylaxis paste and polishing. Dry and isolate the teeth, ideally using a rubber dam, and cover the gums with a protective gel. Protect any remaining soft tissues, such as the lips, with petroleum jelly or glycerin gel. If not using a rubber dam, isolate the teeth with cotton rolls.

Dispense one drop of the SDF solution from the first bottle into a well and apply it to the targeted teeth using a suitable microbrush.

Immediately pour the KI solution (the second bottle) into another well and apply it to the tooth surface using a clean microbrush. This second solution should also be applied to untreated teeth to prevent discoloration in case of accidental contact with the first solution. Continue applying the second solution until it remains clear.

Rinse the teeth with water spray for 20 seconds and dry thoroughly. Note that Cobalt SDF may cause discoloration in decayed dentin.

Before closing the bottles, clean the dropper tip of each bottle with an absorbent tissue and seal the bottles tightly.

Permissible Dosage:

In each treatment session, only one drop of solution from the first bottle and 2 to 3 drops from the second bottle are permitted. If additional application is needed, the patient should be dismissed and a minimum of one week should pass before the next treatment session.

The first bottle solution contains 50,000 ppm fluoride ions.

Clinical Considerations:

Patients and/or their parents should be informed about the potential for discoloration of teeth with this product.

Avoid soft tissue and clothing contamination with the first solution, and follow the first aid protocol in case of accidental contact as detailed in this guideline.

Avoid contact with eyes.

This product is intended for dental use only and is designed for use by dental professionals.

Avoid using the product on patients who are sensitive to fluoride, silver, or iodine. In patients with thyroid issues, use cautiously and with permission from their physician.

Never use this product after its expiration date or more than 3 months after opening the bottle.

The first bottle solution can cause gray to black discoloration if it contacts surfaces or soft tissues.

Always use this product with gloves.

First Aid:

Eye Contact: Keep the eyelid open and rinse the eye with plenty of water for 15 minutes, then seek medical attention.
Skin and Soft Tissue: Wash the area with plenty of water and consult a physician if necessary. Any discoloration should disappear within 48 to 72 hours.

If contact occurs on the skin, you can apply some of the second solution to the skin, spread it well, and then rinse the area with plenty of water.
