Product Description:
- Cobalt Infiltrant Resin is used to treat early enamel caries (White Spot) on smooth tooth surfaces. This product can also be used to treat fluorosis lesions alone or in combination with bleaching and microabrasion treatments.
- Choosing the right case for this treatment is very important in the success of the treatment. It should be noted that although studies have shown that in most cases this treatment prevents the progression of early caries, it can only restore the appearance of the tooth to its original state in less deep lesions. Therefore, the success of the treatment in terms of aesthetics has been reported to be only 50%.
- This treatment is specifically used for enamel lesions. Do not use this product on exposed dentin.
- This treatment can be performed on teeth with uncavated enamel and is not used as a filling for teeth with cavities.
Applications:
Conservative treatment of enamel caries, cosmetic treatment of white spots and mild fluorosis
Usage restrictions:
This product is not used in the treatment of pitted enamel. This product is not used in cases where it is not possible to protect the gums and dry the enamel sufficiently. It should be used with caution in cases where the patient has a history of chemical sensitivity. This treatment is not recommended if the patient’s poor cooperation results in the inability to completely isolate the tooth in question.
How to use:
- Pre-treatment preparation:
Before starting treatment, the tooth surface is cleaned and dried thoroughly. To ensure adequate drying of the lesion, the use of Rubberdam or Cobalt Gum Protection Gel is recommended. In the treatment of old lesions and mild fluorosis, initial bleaching and microabrasion improve the aesthetic results of the treatment. - Tooth enamel preparation by acid etching:
Please note that the acid etching gel used in this kit and for this treatment is a 15% HCl gel and is different from the acid etching used in adhesive treatments (37% phosphoric acid). Before using the acid etching syringe, check the acid outside the mouth to familiarize yourself with the appropriate pressure for controlled acid release. If the acid comes out of the plastic tip with pressure, cut off some of the plastic tip and try again. Apply the appropriate amount of acid to the lesion surface and allow it to act for two minutes. It is recommended that if there is a clear enamel white spot around it, it should also be etched up to 2 mm beyond the lesion. If the lesion appears diffuse, it is better to etch and infiltrate the entire tooth surface. After 2 minutes, remove the acid by suction and rinse for 30 seconds and dry with an oil-free air blower. The etched enamel should not be contaminated with saliva or other fluids. If contamination occurs, the tooth surface should be dried and then re-etched for 10 seconds and then rinsed and dried with alcohol.
- Drying the lesion surface:
Try the drying syringe outside the mouth to familiarize yourself with the appropriate pressure for controlled fluid release. Pour the appropriate amount of this fluid onto the lesion and allow 30 seconds. At this point, the icy white appearance of the lesion should disappear before drying, otherwise the lesion should be re-etched. Evaporate the drying solvent completely with a can of air after 30 seconds to restore the plaster appearance. Avoid touching the etched enamel with your hands or any other object before resin infiltration.
- Applying resin infiltrant:
Place the appropriate amount of resin on the completely dried lesion. Allow 3 minutes for the resin to penetrate. (Make sure the unit lamp is off at this stage.) Remove excess resin from the lesion with a cotton roll. If the white appearance of the lesion disappears before curing, cure the resin for 60 seconds. Otherwise, you can pour the appropriate amount of resin again on the lesion, allow 1 minute, and then cure the resin by removing the excess. In larger and deeper lesions, increasing the infiltration time improves the aesthetic results.
- Polish the surface until the resins on the tooth surface are completely removed and a smooth surface is created.

Clinical tips when working with the resin infiltrate product:
- In case of accidental eye contact, immediately rinse the eyes with plenty of water and see a doctor as soon as possible.
- Prevent acid from coming into contact with the root surface, dentin, gums, and other teeth.
- Apply the acid to the tooth only with the special needle tip included in the package.
- It is emphasized that before using it in the mouth, familiarize yourself with the appropriate pressure to expel acid from the syringe by trying it outside the mouth, and if the acid is difficult to expel, cut off the appropriate amount from the plastic head.
- Close the cap of the acid, dry, and resin syringe tightly after use and prevent air and moisture from entering the product.
