Instructions for using Filpex (calcium hydroxide paste containing iodoform) cobalt

Product Description:

  • Filpex is a premixed calcium hydroxide paste containing iodoform. The addition of iodoform to the calcium hydroxide paste composition improves radiopacity and provides antibacterial properties to the paste. The disposable injection set of this product allows for convenient injection into the root canal space and prevents the spread of infection between patients.
  • The oil base of this product helps the material last longer in the root canal and makes it possible to use it as a filling for baby teeth after pulpectomy.

Components:

One 2 gram syringe, 3 special tips

Uses:

  1. Baby tooth filling
  2. Pulp cap and pulpotomy
  3. Temporary root filling material for adults
  4. Creating a hard tissue barrier

Method of use:

After preparing the root canal space, rinse and dry it. Place the disposable tip on the syringe and insert it into the root canal to a distance of 3 to 4 mm from the apex. Slowly inject an appropriate amount of calcium hydroxide paste into the canal orifice while simultaneously moving the tip of the syringe backward. Remove excess calcium hydroxide from the pulp chamber with sterile cotton. To protect the product from moisture, remove the needle tip and replace it with the cap after completion of the work.

If the paste is difficult to get out of the syringe, trim some of the needle tip with scissors.

Clinical tips when working with calcium hydroxide paste

This product is designed for dental use only, by dentists.

Avoid using the product for patients who are allergic to its components.

For adult use, avoid leaving it for more than a month. Before using on a patient, test the paste on a pad or glass slab to familiarize yourself with the amount of pressure required to expel the paste from the syringe. Otherwise, a large volume may be expelled. Fillpex paste is not effective as a final root filling for permanent teeth. Avoid penetration of the material beyond the apex. This paste dries in the presence of air, so replace the needle tip and close the syringe cap after use on the patient. This will extend the product’s shelf life.
