Classic cobalt acid etching product (contains silica gelling agent)
- If selective etching at the enamel-dentin interface is of less importance and for higher acid volume applications such as orthodontic treatment, you can use cobalt silica etchants, which are marketed in purple. This product is available in 3cc syringes with 20-gauge needle tips and has similar performance characteristics in enamel etching to cobalt polymer etchants.
Components:
Three 3.7 gram syringes, three 20 gauge needle heads
Since the product is gelled by a silica gelling agent, it is recommended to use only the 20-gauge needle tip provided in the package.
Using higher gauge needle tips can make it difficult for the acid to exit the needle tip and create an unpleasant experience when using this product.
Remove the Luer Lock syringe tip and firmly place the needle tip in its place. Before using it inside the mouth, be sure to check the flowability of the material. Isolate the tooth in question. Place the cobalt etch gel first on the enamel and then on the dentin and rinse thoroughly after 15 seconds. The etching time of enamel can vary from 20 to 60 seconds depending on the type of tooth and enamel. Unpolished enamel and the enamel of deciduous teeth require a longer time to fully etch. To clean the inner surface of the restorations, you can place the cobalt etch gel on the surfaces for 10 seconds and then rinse it carefully.
Clinical tips when working with cobalt etching
This product is intended for dental use by dentists only. The use of prophylactic pastes containing oil or fluoride before using phosphoric acid gel will interfere with its performance. Before using, test the gel on a pad or glass slab to familiarize yourself with the amount of pressure required to expel the gel from the syringe, otherwise a large volume of gel may be expelled. If the gel is difficult to expel from the syringe, replace your needle tip. If your file is near the pulp, use a protective base before using this acid. After working with the acid gel, replace the needle tip and close the syringe cap. This will extend the product’s shelf life. Please do not use after the expiration date. Avoid direct sunlight.
Warnings:
Since the phosphoric acid in the gel is corrosive, avoid contact of the gel with skin and eyes. If the acid comes into contact with tissue, wash the area thoroughly with plenty of water. If the product gets into the eyes, rinse them with plenty of water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Storage conditions:
Please store at 5-25°C. Refrigeration in tropical climates will help extend the shelf life of the product. Exposing the product to temperatures above 35°C and below 3°C can result in phase separation in the mixture.
Avoid exposing the product to the mentioned temperatures for long periods of time.
