Cobalt Gingival Dam IFU

Product Description:

Cobalt Gingival Dam is a light-cure methacrylate resin designed to act as a protective barrier between the gingiva and chemical agents. It can also be used to protect other teeth that are not involved in the treatment process. Cobalt Dam is easily removed from the gingiva after bonding and creating a proper seal. This resin is formulated to reflect light, minimizing heat generation and tissue sensitivity.

Indications:

Gingival protection during bleaching treatments
Facilitating isolation with a rubber dam during root canal and restorative treatments
Assisting in matrix band placement in severely damaged teeth
Protecting the gingiva during air abrasion procedures

Instructions for Use:

Application:
Apply the gingival protector resin from the gingival margin up to a height of 5-10 mm. Cover any open embrasures between teeth with Cobalt Dam and extend it 0.5 mm onto the enamel surface. After covering the last tooth in the treatment area, move the light-curing unit 1 cm away from the gingiva and cure the resin for 20 seconds, using a sweeping motion across the gingival margin. For single-tooth applications, 3-5 seconds of curing should suffice. To ensure proper curing, check the resin with a probe.
Removal:
After treatment, use an instrument such as a probe or dressing spatula to break the seal between the tissue and the resin. The majority, if not all, of the Cobalt Dam will be easily removed. Any remaining resin in the interproximal spaces can be removed with a probe or dental floss. Once fully removed, rinse the patient’s mouth thoroughly.

Clinical Tips:

This product is for dental use only by professionals.
Do not use the product on patients with known sensitivities to its ingredients.
Do not use after the expiration date.
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
Test the resin outside the patient’s mouth on a pad or glass slab to familiarize yourself with the pressure required for controlled extrusion. Avoid dispensing excessive amounts of resin during application.
Never test the resin in the patient’s mouth without first testing outside.
When using Cobalt Dam along the gingival margins, keep the curing light in motion to avoid prolonged heating in one area.
If extrusion becomes difficult, replace the needle tip.
After treatment, replace the needle tip and seal the syringe to prolong the product’s shelf life.

Warnings:

Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
If the product comes into contact with soft tissue, wash the area thoroughly with plenty of water.
In case of eye contact, rinse with copious amounts of water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention promptly.
